  • Senior training

    “I am a 72 year old female and have been in Senior Training with Jill for almost 3 1/2 years! She has bestowed upon me The Fountain of Youth!  3 1/2 years ago after Covid died down mostly and we were out and about again, I had stiffness everywhere, no balance and hardly any muscle tone and very little flexibility. Not to mention having a BMI that was way too high. I started Senior Training and quickly began seeing positive changes in all my problem areas.  What makes Jill special is that she begins training  at whatever level you are at. For seniors, that includes lots of stretching in between sets of whatever you are working on. Jill knows when to increase the weights( I began with 2 lb. weights and am now at 10 lbs) She also is an expert at providing challenging workouts that change as you progress. Not to mention, she teaches you how to get up from the floor without using your hands. She individually plans each workout custom tailored for each client. Also, Jill works with any past surgeries or weaknesses that you may have.(I have an old shoulder surgery so we work around that) She is incredibly knowledgeable about the human body and how it all works together, including nutrition issues!     I feel so very much stronger now, have great balance , my flexibility continues to improve and I can now bend over to pick things so much easier! I can lift a carry on into the overhead bin with no assistance! We also work on aerobics to get the heart rate going- that helps quickly getting through airports if you like to travel.

    “I first met Jill in 2018 when I decided to try a ‘free trial’ at the gym. At that time, I had never worked with a trainer before and didn’t consider myself an athlete. From our very first session, Jill made me feel completely welcome and supported.     “I have been working with Ms. Jill for many months and it has been a wonderful experience. I’ve never enjoyed exercise, and I’ve always struggled to get a sufficient amount of it, so having someone to keep me accountable really helps. It’s also really nice because it’s over Zoom, so you don’t have to;t have to drive to the gym. I just set up my mat, pull up my weights, and I’m ready to go.     “At 70 years old I found myself with arthritic hands and knees, sciatic issues, neglected muscles, balance problems, shaky stability, general pain and I walked with a cane. I almost resigned myself to becoming an elderly couch potato. Instead, I started working with Jill Kitko Bernard every 2 to 3 weeks. With her in-depth knowledge of the musculoskeletal system, she walks me through “movements” to practice in order to improve my mobility and strength. After our movement sessions at my house, Jill sends me a video and spreadsheet to guide my personal workout sessions. She checks in periodically by text and responds quickly to any questions. After 10 months, my balance, mobility, strength and walking gait have considerably improved. My overall pain has markedly decreased and I can now easily put on my shoes, roll over in bed, walk without my cane for half the time, and ease up my sciatic pain because of Jill. She is encouraging, calm, non-judgmental and a great listener. She designed a unique movement program to address my needs and greatly improved the quality of my life.
